On September 16, the third meeting of the Board of Directors of the Packaging Cluster was held, for the period up to the year 2024, at the Metallurgical Center of Sabadell, accompanied by the participation of partners Convertpack and Bolsaplast.
These meetings are held quarterly with the aim of following up on the entity's Strategic Plan, which are open to members - with a voice but without a vote - where the evolution of the cluster and the sector is monitored and assessed, as well as of the upcoming action proposals for the coming months.
In this session, the Board of Directors carried out the usual financial monitoring of the association, as well as a review of the current situation of the cluster, the financial close of August and the forecasts for the end of the year. This year, the Packaging Cluster already incorporates 22 new associated companies, with a total of 148 members and expects to end the year with 24 new additions, following the growth trend of recent years, with the aim of reaching 160 members for next year, as established in the Strategic Plan.
During the celebration, the good progress of the projects was summarized, 34 projects managed from 10 different calls, with 2 new European projects granted and 12 pending resolution (6 from the Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras call, 4 from the Strengthening Initiatives of the Competitiveness, 1 of the Operational Groups and 1 of the Employment Service of Catalonia), which facilitate the development of innovation projects by the associated companies (on the entity's website you can consult the summary of the projects).
In terms of activities, the positive assessment of the participation of the associates in the cluster's annual benchmark meeting, the Packaging Talks, which was held this year in Port Aventura, where the previous edition of the Saló Hispack (7 -May 10, Barcelona) There was also a review of the upcoming outstanding activities, such as the training on Fundamentals of packaging materials, which will be held from September 18 to October 16 at the cluster offices, as well like the next Cafè del Packaging (October 9, Sant Cugat del Vallès), with Oriol Guixà, President and CEO of the Catalan company La Fargai President of the FemCat Foundation.
On the other hand, La Nit del Packaging was presented, which will take place on November 20 at Hotel Barcelona Princess with the proposal of recognition in three categories: 1) Sustainability. Best collaborative project in the field of sustainability. 2) Business strategy. Best strategic change project that improves the company's competitiveness. 3) Active company. Proactive partner with the cluster that participates qualitatively and generates community within the sector. The Board of Directors will assess and score the candidate companies for recognition. On this occasion, the Enitat reference night already has Hinojosa and Hispack as premium sponsors and Fakolith and Rieusset (Gerosa Group) as basic sponsors.
Finally, there was a debate on possible activities and training to carry out in the face of the next year, which highlights the choice of place and date for the next Packaging Talks 2025, which will take place at the Terraverda Hotel (Gualta, Girona) on June 12 and 13.
The meeting held at the Metallurgical Center was also used to get to know the spaces of the center, as well as the people who drive and energize the business entity, where the Director General, Mrs. Montse Vilanova, received and accompanied the members of the cluster. The next Board of Directors will meet at Finca Batllori (Subirats) on December 16, 2024.

On 26 September, the annual meeting of the Catalonia Clusters Programme was held, an event organised by ACCIÓ that brings together presidents and managers of clusters to analyse the progress and challenges of the sector. The event was attended by the Minister of Enterprise and Labour, Miquel Sàmper, who underlined the strategic importance of clusters for the Catalan economy.
