The Packaging Cluster has incorporated Easy Reading into the "Home" and "About Us" sections of its website to make the content easier to understand for people with reading difficulties. This project has been carried out with the support of the TEB Cooperative Group, a non-profit organization that works for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and at risk of social exclusion.
Easy Reading is a system that adapts texts to make them clearer and more accessible to people with disabilities, the elderly and other groups with reading comprehension difficulties. The TEB Cooperative Group, which provides stable employment to more than 700 people, is responsible for this process following European guidelines. In addition, a team of people with intellectual disabilities validates the texts to ensure that they are truly accessible.
To reinforce this commitment to inclusion, last January the Packaging Cluster team received training in cognitive accessibility from members of the TEB accessibility team. This session highlighted the importance of Easy Reading, considering that 20% of the population has difficulty understanding texts.
The Packaging Cluster also learned about other training courses that the TEB offers to companies, such as courses on inclusive care, emotional, sexual and gender diversity, and cultural diversity. From the Special Work Centers they offer solutions for industry and services to companies such as gardening, cleaning, janitorial and home delivery. They also include quality laboratories and an industrial area, where their paint factory, the packaging and handling section for the publishing sector, high-frequency sealing packaging and the cosmetics and cleanroom area are located.
These initiatives help create more diverse and respectful work environments for all people.
