NAME and SUBTITLE: SINTEC - Intersectoral Synergies for the Circular Economy
START DATE: November 2025
DURATION: 24 months
CONSORTIUM: CREC - Waste Cluster, Advanced Materials Cluster, Tèxtils.Cat, and Packaging Cluster
DESCRIPTION: The objective of the project is to study the circularity of waste from the technical textile industry, especially those with a high polymer load, for their reuse in new materials for the packaging sector. Advanced textile waste has a growing environmental impact due to its difficulty in recycling, the use of toxic substances and the low rate of reuse. This problem has been previously addressed in different initiatives but the SINTEC project presents an innovative approach: an intersectoral collaboration between four clusters to maximize resource efficiency and generate unprecedented industrial symbiosis models.
